April is National Poetry Month, so we're having a Blackout Poetry Contest! Our Blackout Poetry Contest entry period is extended to APRIL 30th! What is Blackout Poetry? "A blackout poem is when a poet takes a marker (usually black marker) to already established text–like in a newspaper–and starts redacting words until a poem is formed. The key thing with a blackout poem is that the text AND redacted text form a sort of visual poem." [as quoted from Writer's Digest's article titled "Erasure and Blackout Poems: Poetic Forms" Robert Lee Brewer published on November 21, 2014] [CLICK HERE] to check out the rules, examples, and download some book scans if you need them. |
We at the Algoma Public Library know that many of us are going to be stuck at home for an undetermined amount of time. Though, at first, it might be nice to have time to catch up on school or house work, we know that eventually we all might run out of things to do. Because of this, we would like to challenge the citizens of Algoma and surrounding areas to our… WEEKLY BUILD-IT CHALLENGE! Click here to see how you can submit! |
