Introducing our new Oculus Quest 2 (Virtual Reality) gaming device. Would you like to come and try out Virtual Reality for free? We are so excited to add this new gaming device to our library programming. Stop by and try it out Tuesday, September 12th between 1:15-5 pm.
To give everyone a chance to play time slots on the Oculus will be limited to 20 minutes per person.

We will be painting/ carving pumpkins at the library again this year on Wednesday, October 18th from 3-5 pm. Please register for a time slot 3 pm and 4 pm. While supplies last. Each time slot will have a limited number of pumpkins to help with spacing. Call to reserve your spot.

Title: The Super Mario Bros Movie Rated: PG Runtime: 1 HR 32 MIN In honor of EAA Airventure this week, Kids and Parents come in on Monday, July 24th from 11:30 am to 1 pm and test your building skills to create airplanes that will hopefully fly! Once we have built our planes we will see who's plane flies the furthest. Building materials provided, you bring your creativity and imagination!

This kit is geared towards kids, teens, and families. Kits will be available on a first come, first served basis. Supplies are limited. Bats are one of the best friends we humans have ever had! Unfortunately, more than half of our American bat species are in severe decline. Janet Raddatz, Wisconsin Master Naturalist, will share her knowledge of these special creatures that affect the quality of our life. This presentation is for the entire family, especially the children on Thursday, July 13th at 1 pm. This presentation will be held in the City Council Chambers (416 Fremont St - same building as the library).
Stop by any time between 11 am and 4:30 pm on Wednesday, July 5th to complete our Lego Challenges! Children under the age of 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult or caregiver over the age of 12.
Saturday, July 1st starting at 10 AMThe Algoma Public Library would like to challenge our patrons to a community wide scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will start at the library starting at 10 AM and will be held until 2 PM. Gather clues, solve riddles, and find the prize at the end!
Our Summer Reading Theme this year is "All Together Now". With our theme in mind we want to help our community by running a non-perishable food drive. Items can be brought in June 1st to June 30th. All items will be donated to the Kewaunee County Food Panty here in town. *You are able to waive up to $25 per account, billed and damaged items are ineligible.

Tuesday, June 20th from 1pm - 2pm at the Algoma Elementary School Gym is your chance to come out and meet some dinosaurs!
Dinosaur Dimensions brings out a show of Jurassic proportions as the crowd will get to witness realistic animatronic puppet dinosaurs in a themed 40-45 minute show that gets the kids involved! Different dinosaur species will be presented - each with different features and facts. The dinosaurs are all nice, even though a few of them might seem scary to the smaller kids. Following the program, families will get the chance to come up and meet/greet one of the dinosaurs up close and personal. This program is free and open to all at the Algoma Elementary School Gym. For more information, call the Library at 920-487-2295. Monday, June 19th at 10 AMJuneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. This educational kit revolving around learning about the importance of Juneteenth will be available for pick-up starting June 19th at 10 AM. Supplies will be limited. This kit is geared towards late elementary schoolers to early high schoolers.
This week (June 12th -16th) we are celebrating kindness. Stop by to borrow our chalk to write or draw what you think kindness means. This is a family friendly event.
Come meet your everyday hometown heroes on Tuesday, June 13th from 11 am to 1 pm in the Library parking lot. Our local departments including firefighters, paramedics, police officers, public works and utilities will be here to show off their cars and trucks!
